The Dáil and the Convention Centre

Sir, – Watching the debate on the appointment of a Supreme Court judge, I was struck by the image of 15 TDs sitting in a huge auditorium designed to accommodate 2,000 people.

If those self-same TDs expect 30 students to sit in a tiny classroom for hours on end, then I think it is time that the TDs could return to Leinster House, which contains a large room designed for 165 people.

This would show that we are actually all in this together and save, at an absolute minimum, the €25,000 a day it costs to hold Dáil sittings in the Convention Centre. – Yours, etc,

CHARLES McLAUGHLIN,
