Sir,– Ian Booth (Letters, November 6th) argues that the use of an electric vehicle is a no-brainer on the grounds that electricity for his electric car costs €63 per month, versus €148 for diesel.
Given that the tax take on the diesel is €78, and on the electricity is €7, for just how long does he think the Government will accept such a reduction in its income? And when it decides to replace that lost income just where does Mr Booth think they might look to replace it?
