Church values and female clergy

A chara, – Leaving to one side the topic of women's ordination, it is interesting that Josepha Madigan should choose to lecture the Catholic Church about values and urge Catholics to "speak up for the values that they expect the Church to uphold" ("Josepha Madigan criticises Catholic Church's lack of women in clergy", News, February 11th).

The Minister, after all, was one who led Fine Gael’s campaign to repeal the Eighth Amendment; and the right to life is, as everyone knows, a core value of the Catholic Church.

This makes me wonder if perhaps the values she wishes the Catholic Church to start proclaiming are the ones that are popular in society today rather than the ones traditionally held and taught down through the centuries. – Is mise,
