Kilkenny CBS fancy chances

Bad weather and the industrial action by the ASTI have killed off the majority of colleges fixtures this week. Fortunately, the bulk of the Leinster senior hurling pre-championship league has been completed - the only game of significance remaining is the postponed meeting of holders St Kieran's and hometown rivals Kilkenny CBS.

That game may yet be fixed for later in the week but in section one, Good Counsel, New Ross, who are unbeaten in three outings, have secured their place in the league final, scheduled for next week.

Whoever wins the all-Kilkenny clash will be the top team in section two, as both sides have won two out of two. So far this season Kilkenny CBS seem to be closing the gap considerably on St Kieran's.

In Munster, last Friday's epic Dr Harty Cup replay between Midleton CBS and Colaiste An Phiarsaigh has now provided the holders, St Flannan's, Ennis, with their semi-final opposition. Midleton eventually prevailed after extra-time, 1-17 to 3-9, but An Phiarsaigh did not give in easily.
