Sir, – The Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien stated that only €21,000 of the vacant site levy had been collected in 2020 by the local authorities with demands for €11 million having been sent out ("New zoned land tax to be delayed for at least two years, says Paschal Donohoe", News, October 13th). As a taxpayer, if I fail to pay what I owe, not only will I be required to pay up but I will also be charged interest on the amount outstanding.
As Revenue will be collecting the new zoned land tax, could it not also collect the above arrears, thus ensuring that all taxpayers pay what they owe? – Yours, etc,
