United Ireland debate

Sir, – It is hard to believe that anyone can seriously suggest, as Brian Doyle does (Letters, 5April 5th), that "the Irish Government should establish a citizens' assembly so that we can chart the way forward to a new all-Ireland constitutional, political, social and economic reality."

We can talk among ourselves all we like but until we talk – and listen – to unionists, all we will hear is the echo of our own voices. – Yours, etc,

PATRICK
