The cost of living

Sir, – I have observed recently that a product I purchase regularly, a 90g packet of processed pork sliced meat, increased from €1 to €1.25. A price increase of 25 per cent. Pig farmers say that pig meat prices in Ireland are 70 cent a kilo below the cost of production.

Maybe some of the 25 per cent price increase that consumers are paying should be passed back to the farmers. – Yours, etc,

GAIL HANBIDGE,

Coolkenno,
