Coming to terms with Jeremy Corbyn

Sir, – Now that the British Labour Party has come out in favour of UK membership of a customs union, which would solve the frictionless border problem in Ireland, I look forward to a torrent of letters saying that Jeremy Corbyn isn’t such a bad fellow, may even have brought Labour back to some of its old principles and values, is certainly a bit of a political mastermind, is infinitely preferable to that mountebank Tony Blair, and that what the UK needs is a 1945 moment when decency is restored to British public life. The letters will end by expressing the sneaking regard the correspondent always had for dear Jeremy.

Whether this will bear the test of scrutiny is another matter. – Yours, etc,

EOIN DILLON,

Dublin 8.
