Sir, – I read with great interest and admiration about the practical work of former bishop Eamonn Casey while he was a priest assisting Irish emigrants in London (“Fr Eamonn refused to buy pints for me in London, long before his reputation was shredded”, An Irishman’s Diary, October 11th). While we are all familiar with his later misdeeds, it is helpful to get a balanced view of the overall scope of his pastoral works. Thanks to Kieran Fagan for that. – Yours, etc,
TONY CORCORAN,
Rathfarnham,
Dublin 14.
