Sir, - For Ed Abrahamson to be right that the West Bank is not occupied territory but rather “disputed” territory (“Disputed lands of West Bank have a long history”, Letters, September 16th), it would require that the United Nations Security Council, the United Nations General Assembly, the European Union, the African Union, the League of Arab States, the International Court of Justice, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Criminal Court, successive UN Commissions of Inquiry and every country in the world, bar one, are wrong.
Moreover, the International Court of Justice held in July 2024 that Israel’s presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory is unlawful and must end as soon as possible. The authoritative judicial finding by the world’s highest court was given overwhelming political endorsement by the United Nations General Assembly two months later. - Yours, etc,
