Sir, – Ben Costelloe (Letters, July 14th) provides an interesting account of Aughinish Alumina’s impressive engineering achievements.
However, if the plant is supplying raw materials that ultimately contribute to weapons used to kill Ukrainians, its past achievements cannot be treated as a balancing factor.
The issue is whether Ireland should facilitate such a supply chain, not whether the plant has otherwise served the State well.
