Sir, – I write to express my profound gratitude for the recent cascade of heat warnings, without which I might have stepped outside, noticed I was about to roast and not have the cop-on to step back inside.
I trust that the relevant authorities will continue to monitor all the seasons on my behalf. It is comforting, in uncertain times, to know that somewhere the obvious is being observed, gift-wrapped and delivered by radio, television, and all other befitting means of communication with the breathless urgency of an approaching invasion of our sovereign State.
Without wishing to overlook any looming midsummer warnings, I especially await an advisory, as Christmas approaches, on when I should wear my topcoat. – Yours, etc,
MICHAEL GANNON,
RM Block
Kilkenny.
