Workers at Irish Fertilizer Industries are to protest at the office of the Tánaiste, Ms Harney, tomorrow over the lack of guarantees in a severance package. More than half of the 600 workers at the company, which is going into liquidation, will lose their jobs at the end of this week.

Mr Noel Dowling, of SIPTU, said that as things stood, workers would be leaving with only a week's back pay. About 150 staff in Belfast, 100 in Arklow and 100 in Cork are being laid off this week.
