A Meath family has collected their lotto jackpot win of €10.65 million from the National Lottery offices on Friday.

The family syndicate of two, who have decided to remain anonymous, celebrated with a glass of champagne in Dublin as they struggled to believe their good luck.

“Life has just begun - the possibilities are endless,” one winner said.

The ticket buyer explained they had almost forgot to buy the winning ticket on Easter Saturday.

“’Don’t forget to buy a Lotto ticket, it’s a rollover,’ That was the reminder I got last Saturday before I went out to get some shopping. I might never have bought the ticket if it wasn’t for that,” they said, as they thanked the other winner for the reminder.

They said they checked the results of the draw on Teletext.

“I just couldn’t believe it. I looked up at the numbers and down at the ticket, over and over and over again,” they said.

“That night it was all rolling around in my head and I couldn’t sleep but since then I’ve been buzzing.”

The winners plan to use the money to help out their family, pay off their mortgages and buy new cars.

“But most of all, we intend to enjoy it. We’re just so happy. It feels like life has just begun and the possibilities are endless,” one winner said.

It has been the biggest lotto jackpot won from the National Lottery so far this year.

The winning €4 quick pick ticket was bought at Souhan's filling station on Haggard Street in Trim, Co Meath last Saturday.

The jackpot had been rolling over since early February, when €10.32 million was won by one person in Co Kildare.
