A man in his 40s has been seriously injured following a hit-and-run on the Lower Rathmines Road in Dublin on Sunday night. Gardaí said that at approximately 8:45pm, emergency services responded to an incident involving a car and a pedestrian. The car involved in the incident failed to remain at the scene.

The pedestrian, an adult male (40s), was taken by ambulance to St James’s Hospital. “His injuries are understood to be serious,” the Garda statement added. The scene is currently preserved and traffic diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Those with camera footage, including motorists with dash-cam, from the area at the time are asked to provide it to investigating gardaí.
