Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) continued to fight a large fire at a car dismantlers in north Co Dublin on Thursday evening with the service saying it expected units to be at the scene into the night.
DFB advised any residents close to the fire at Wimbletown to close all windows and doors.
The fire was first reported shortly after 3pm and by 5pm there were eight units at the scene: five fire engines, a foam unit and two water tanks. This subsequently increased as additional equipment was brought in.
The fire is located near Ballyboughal in Fingal, not far from Lusk, and was clearly visible across a wide area of the city.

DFB said senior officers were overseeing the operation to extinguish the fire and it was receiving support from both the Meath fire service and Dublin Airport Fire and Rescue.
Local road closures were in place.
The fire service said the scale of their operation at the scene would be reduced as the night went on but some personnel would be remaining “for the foreseeable future” given the “protracted” nature of the incident.
The cause of the of the fire is not yet known. There are no reports of injuries.
