Later in the year we’ll hear a great deal more of Helen Carey’s 1913/2013 Lockout Project. To set the tone, wearing her LCGA director’s hat, Carey has initiated a three-strand exhibition. STRIKE! “explores industrial disputes and workers resistance”.

A centrepiece is the Irish premiere of Jeremy Deller’s Battle of Orgreave (An Injury to One Is an Injury to All), a 2001 film re-enactment (left) of the pivotal, violent confrontation between picketers and riot police during the miners’ strike in 1984. The film was commissioned by Channel 4 and Artangel and directed by Mike Figgis.
