Art auctions are a fun and exciting way to start or grow a collection. Two forthcoming events are in good causes too. The SCOOP Art Auction is raising funds to build a maternity clinic in Syria. One hundred works by leading artists are on view at the Powerscourt Townhouse and Copperhouse Gallery, with the auction on April 28th. See scoopfoundation.org.

Supporting the not-for-profit artist's studios, the gala auction of painting, print, photography and sculpture is on May 2nd, with viewing from April 30th. pallasprojects.org.
