Data is everything, including when it comes to your health. Withings’ new smart scale will track your body composition over time, giving you an idea of how trends are going in terms of your muscle mass, for example, or how your heart rate is changing over time.

The Body Smart uses something called multifrequency bioelectrical impedance analysis, precision weight transistor sensors and algorithms to measure your weight and body composition, and also to calculate metabolic age, basal metabolic rate and visceral fat.

A new feature, closed-eye mode, hides the actual weight from the screen, replacing it instead with motivating messages and taking the focus away from weight and putting it on health instead. You can also get daily information such as step counts, air quality and the weather.

All your data is sent over to the accompanying Withings app, which will track trends and deliver some recommendations for you to help improve your health and wellness.
