Stephanie Roche has been invited to spend the day at the White House by US president Barack Obama for St Patrick's Day this year.
The 25-year-old made the announcement on Twitter on Saturday evening.
Roche became known to the nation and the world when her "wonder goal" made the final three in the Fifa Puskas award for goal of the year alongside Real Madrid star James Rodriguez and Robin Van Persie.

She was pipped for the top spot by Rodriguez but came second with 33 per cent of the vote.
Roche tweeted she was “absolutely delighted” to be invited to the White House.
She signed a two-year contract with the Texas-based Houston Dash soccer team to play in the US National Women Soccer League (NWSL) this month.
Roche has said she was really grateful for the opportunity to move to the US and play with the world-famous women’s soccer league.
