Harry Kane's superb solo goal helped Tottenham climb into the Barclays Premier League top four for the first time this season as Mauricio Pochettino celebrated a 2-0 win over his former club Southampton.

Kane beat three men on the counter-attack before curling home his 11th goal of the season as Spurs hit two goals in three minutes at the end of the first half, the second a close-range finish from Dele Alli.

The result moves Tottenham above Manchester United, who lost at home to Norwich, while Southampton sit 12th after six games without a victory.

Saints’ five league wins this season had all come against teams in the bottom seven of the table before kick-off and Ronald Koeman will be concerned about his side’s loss of form, with the relegation zone only seven points away.

Stoke City 1 Crystal Palace 2

Substitute Lee Chung-Yong’s brilliant 88th-minute winner earned Crystal Palace their fifth away victory of the season in a 2-1 triumph over Stoke.

The Eagles took the lead in first-half stoppage-time through a penalty from Connor Wickham, his first goal for the club, after Glenn Whelan had clattered into the back of Wilfried Zaha's leg.

Despite three fine saves from Wayne Hennessey, the Potters levelled from the spot themselves when Bojan Krkic converted after referee Robert Madley deemed Damien Delaney had handled inside the area.

Alan Pardew’s men would find a late winner, though, as Lee rifled a measured first-time effort into the far corner of Jack Butland’s net from a semi-cleared corner.

West Bromwich Albion 1 AFC Bournemouth 2

Charlie Daniels’ late penalty gave in-form Bournemouth a third successive Barclays Premier League win as they triumphed 2-1 at nine-man West Brom.

The defender fired in after Dan Gosling had been brought down by Darren Fletcher with just three minutes left.

Gareth McAuley looked to have rescued a point for the Baggies when he cancelled out Adam Smith’s second-half opener.

Albion had to play almost an hour with 10 men after James McClean was dismissed for a wild lunge at Smith as he looked for revenge following a tackle between the pair just 10 seconds before.

And Salmon Rondon was sent off in injury time after an altercation with Gosling to complete the late drama.

Defeat was Tony Pulis’ 100th as a Barclays Premier League manager and ended the Baggies’ four-match unbeaten run.

It also increased the Baggies’ home woes as only Aston Villa (two) have won fewer points at home than Albion (eight).

But victory saw the Cherries sitting five points clear of the drop zone and they were the better side from the off.
