Bayern Munich have confirmed Mario Gotze will join them in July. The Bundesliga champions are prepared to meet the Germany attacking midfielder's release clause in his contract with Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern announced the signing in a statement on their official website after Dortmund earlier revealed the player had told them he wanted to make the move.

Gotze’s release clause is set at €37 million, meaning that should he complete the move he will become the most expensive German player of all time.

The 20-year-old has emerged as one of the most coveted players in European football since coming through the ranks at Dortmund and making his Bundesliga debut in November 2009.
