Leinster’s Fergus McFadden has received a three-week ban after being cited for an incident during his side’s Pro12 win over Connacht on New Year’s Day.

McFadden was adjudged to have "stamped and trampled" on Connacht's Nathan White during a ruck.

The Leinster winger was found to have breached Law 10.4 (b), an act that would have warranted a red card had it been spotted by the referee.

Such a breach would usually carry a five-week ban but die to the mitigating factors on McFadden’s acknowledgement of wrongdoing, his previous clean disciplinary record and his good conduct at the hearing, the sentence was reduced by two weeks.

However the winger will be sidelined for Friday's Pro12 trip to Ospreys as well as Leinster's two European Champions Cup dead rubbers against Bath and Wasps.

He will be available again for selection to play against Newport Gwent Dragons in the Pro12 on January 29th.
