Munster Rugby have signed Australian second-row Mark Chisholm on a two-year contract, as they look to fill the void left by Paul O'Connell's departure ahead of the new season.

O'Connell will depart for French side Toulon after the World Cup, with the province bringing in the Bayonne player as his replacement subject to being granted a valid work permit and obtaining medical and fitness clearance.

From Queensland, the 33 year-old played for Super Rugby side Brumbies on 102 occasions, and on the international front he won 58 caps for Australia between 2004 and 2010, scoring six tries.

In 2011 he made the move to Top 14 side Bayonne and made 89 appearances for the French outfit, captaining the side for three seasons.
