Leicester confirm Geordan Murphy’s new coaching role

Club legend to assist former Ireland team-mate Paul Burke with Tigers’ backline

Aviva Premiership champions Leicester have confirmed that Geordan Murphy will remain at the club next season following his retirement and form a new backs coaching team with fellow Ireland international Paul Burke.

Murphy, who retired after a 16-year career at Welford Road at the end of this season, will assist Burke, who will take over as backs coach following Matt O’Connor’s move to become head coach at Leinster.

Leicester director of rugby Richard Cockerill said: "By bringing Paul and Geordan together in the coaching team we have a degree of continuity which I feel is very important in our environment and we look forward to seeing their continued development in their new roles."
