An inspection at 4.00 p.m. today could see Fairyhouse's scheduled meeting on Saturday called off.
Over two inches of rain since last Saturday made the track unraceable yesterday and any further rain would kill of any chance of racing at the weekend.
"We are going to give it every chance but if we get any kind of water on the track, either snow, sleet or rain, then it would be very unlikely we could go ahead. We are looking for drying conditions," the Fairyhouse manager Dick Sheil said.
The picture is more positive at Leopardstown which has improved since Tuesday.
"We are much more optimistic now. It has improved a great deal.
The forecast is better too, with milder weather expected for the weekend, but we will continue to review things and see how the track is performing," the Leopardstown racing manager Tom Burke said.
