Having ridden their luck somewhat in the midweek League Cup win over Longford Town, Derry City will be aiming to produce a more convincing display this evening at Richmond Park where a win would be enough for Stephen Kenny's side to leapfrog leaders Drogheda United at the top of the table.

"We may not have deserved to win during the week," says Kenny, "but the difference between the two sides was we took our chance and so we're in the last eight of the competition."

Kenny has Ken Oman, Eamon Doherty and Mark McChrystal available again but Clive Delaney and Gareth McGlynn are still out while Mark Farren and Kevin Deery are reckoned to be one and two weeks away from full fitness respectively.

Also looking to improve on their performance in a game against Longford are Bohemians with Gareth Farrelly's side aiming to put last weekend's 3-1 defeat at Flancare Park behind them. Bohemians had secured much-needed wins over Dublin City and UCD immediately prior to the defeat and the aim will be to add another three points against bottom side Bray Wanderers.

Still looking for their first victory of the campaign, Wanderers are waiting to assess the fitness of on-loan winger David Tyrell while goalkeeper Terry Masterson looks set to miss out again through injury but defender Stephen Gifford returns.

Sharing bottom spot with Bray are Waterford United whose manager Mike Kerley is anxious to see his side get a decent result on the board against Dublin City this evening.

"There's still a long way to go obviously enough," he says, "but if you stay at the bottom for too long it's very hard to get out of it. It's hard to lift the players week in, week out."

Kerley is set to be without Darren Young and Paul Ometeso (hamstring and calf strain) respectively, while John Hayes is out suspended.

For Dublin City, Mark Rooney, Ger McCarthy and Ben Whelehan all came through the League Cup game against Shelbourne without any problems and the trio are set to start this evening.

Drogheda United defender Jason Gavin, meanwhile, has been named as the Eircom/Soccer Writers association of Ireland Player of the Month for April.
