Irish Times journalist Kevin O’Sullivan has been honoured in recognition of his long-standing coverage of the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.
The Irish Times Environment and Science Editor received the Founders Medal which is presented to an individual who has made a “remarkable and long-standing contribution” to the exhibition.
This year’s Founders Medal at the 61st Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition, which concluded on Saturday, was awarded in recognition of Mr O’Sullivan’s coverage of the exhibition for more than a decade.
It was presented by Dr Tony Scott, who cofounded the exhibition with the late Fr Tom Burke in 1963.

The 61st exhibition saw students from 225 schools across Ireland showcasing their projects at the RDS in Dublin.
Some 550 projects spanned a wide range of Stem (science, technology, engineering and maths) topics. Three sisters from Co Kerry won the overall prize on Friday night.
Sisters Ciara (17), Saoirse (15) and Laoise (12) Murphy from Presentation Secondary School, Tralee won for their development of a smartphone app that aims to improve the response by health services in emergencies.
