Sir, – Anne Harris posits in her thought-provoking piece that a "wallop" of cataclysmic proportions from the "young" awaits the current Government parties, particularly Fine Gael, in the next general election ("Undervalued young are prey to Opposition overpromises", Opinion & Analysis, December 23rd.
I beg to differ for one very obvious, and historically justified, reason: the “young” are habitually under-represented in general elections – as they tend not to vote in significant numbers.
Representation depends on participation, and not demonstration. – Yours, etc,
