Suspension of Barry McElduff MP

Sir, – I wish to express my outrage at the action of Barry McElduff MP on Friday last, the 42nd anniversary of the Kingsmills massacre ("Sinn Féin MP apologises over 'insulting' Kingsmill video", News, January 6th).

His three-month suspension by Sinn Féin adds insult to injury.

This act was carried out by an elected representative and is deeply disturbing to all those, north and south, who oppose the blight of sectarianism, and is even more offensive to those whose republicanism stands for uniting Catholic, Protestant and dissenter. – Yours, etc,

MICHAEL FINNEGAN,
