Shopping local and making choices

Sir, – Damian Doyle (Letters, November 29th) says that shopping local is the main cause of global warming. I would suggest shopping for fruit out of season may be more important in this case.

Maybe we would actually enjoy food more if we reverted to eating what was fresh, and, because local, also naturally ripened. There would always be occasional exotic treats, but that would be, by definition, exceptional. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Could I suggest to Damian Doyle that his shopping local is not the main cause of global warming. It is his choice of fruit salad. It’s December, try porridge. – Yours, etc,
