Rugby v homelessness

Sir, – There is no mystery why, as Fintan O'Toole points out, the Government prioritised hosting the 2023 Rugby World Cup over moving homeless children out of hotels and B&Bs ("Rugby is an emergency, homeless kids can wait", Opinion & Analysis, July 11th).

Most Government TDs do not personally know any homeless kids and their children don’t play with them.

On the other hand, you can bet that a significant number of the children of TDs attend private rugby-playing schools, or the TDs actually went to such fee-paying schools themselves. – Yours, etc,
