Reconsidering Brexit

Sir, – I am not a supporter of Brexit.

Fintan O'Toole writes that "there is nothing undemocratic about voting again on Brexit", "second thoughts are the essence of democracy" and that democracy is "a system of trial and error" (Opinion & Analysis, July 14th).

The logic of this viewpoint is that Irish referendums can be repeated. Is your columnist in favour of repeating the recent referendums on marriage equality and the Eighth Amendment, which gave him his desired results, or is he only in favour of repeating referendums that did not give him the results that he wished for? – Yours, etc,
