Sir, – Pavement cafés and bars are a welcome sight, reminiscent of those all over continental Europe. There, however, restaurateurs and bar owners wash the pavements outside their premises daily. Here, pavements are covered in beer, coffee stains, and worse, and I have yet to see washing taking place. Perhaps in Ireland we rely on the next shower to do the cleaning. – Yours, etc,
