Celebration and hubris

A chara, – The post-election euphoria within the ranks of Sinn Féin is understandable but it now runs the risk of disappearing into a cloud of hubris.

How can excluding Sinn Féin from government be a “slap in the face”, as Mary Lou McDonald put it (News, February 14th), for the electorate?

Over 75 per cent of us did not vote for it for various reasons; including disquiet at their continuing refusal to dissociate itself from the Provisional IRA and to apologise for supporting the savage violence of that organisation through their strategy of the “armalite and the ballot box”.

Yes, their day will come, but not yet. – Yours, etc,
