Boring old politics?

Sir, – Further to Stephen Collins's article "We should be happy Irish politics is boring" (Opinion & Analysis, July 20th), for whom is Irish politics boring?

Not for the increasing numbers whose daily navigation of labyrinthine social and civic service provision is depleting and diminishing; not for those struggling to provide constancy and security of accommodation for themselves and their families; not for those, now and into the foreseeable future, for whom the disasters of non-interventionism and the “light touch” are an ever-growing and ongoing reality.

Boring in this context is in fact something to aspire to. It would give us a new and improved baseline from which to build. – Yours, etc,

KATHERINE LUMSDEN,
