Bedsits and housing policy

Sir, – A tale of two bedsits. I visited a bedsit 10 years ago where 30 people lived in a medium sized house in wholly unsuitable conditions.

I later also lived in another bedsit where I shared a bathroom with one other person in a nice flat. It was convenient and affordable.

The current ban prohibits both types of bedsit.

I would argue that substandard accommodation should be eradicated, but bedsits and substandard are not the same thing. – Yours, etc,

A chara, – While I expect that Oliver Duffy (September 15th) is correct in suggesting that those opposed to the reintroduction of bedsits are unlikely to be "rough sleepers", how many of those publicly promoting these facilities will in fact avail of them? – Is mise,
