Back to the fold

A chara , – Wesley J Beck is worried about news disappearing into the folds of The Irish Times (Letters, December 31st). A potentially greater problem, given various lockdowns, overeating and general lack of exercise, may be The Irish Times disappearing into the folds of the readers. – Is mise,

Sir, – The difficulty of reading one’s newspaper with creases in it can be solved in the same way as one deals with many other problems. If one sleeps on it, things appears much clearer in the morning. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – I’m creased laughing at your letter writers seeking solutions to the folds in The Irish Times. I solved the problem long ago. I get my butler to iron each separate sheet of the paper before he brings it to me at 9.30am, along with my breakfast in bed and a small cognac. He then draws my bath while I read the paper. It seems such a simple solution that I cannot understand why everyone doesn’t follow suit. – Yours, etc,
