Well done to Ireland’s football team

Sir, – Well done to the players of the Irish football team who represented themselves and our country over the past week.

Not since the World Cup in 2002 has there been so much debate and comments from so many quarters concerning the national team. These young men wore the Irish jersey in difficult situations and competed to give performances that all sports fans should be proud of.

Long may it continue. – Yours, etc,
