Sir, – A few decades ago, I wrote to the then editor and mistakenly wrote that the sailor Conor O’Brien’s circumnavigation of the world was “single-handed”. The response from your readers correcting me was torrential. I responded with a one-word letter to the editor: “Sorry!”
