Sir, – Finn McRedmond suggests anyone unfamiliar with Sydney Sweeney must live in Siberia (“Spare me the fury about Sydney Sweeney. What I see here is a sense of humour”, Opinion, September 17th).
I have the misfortune of never having heard of her and live in wildest Co Clare. Maybe we should be twinned with Siberia. – Yours, etc,

Sir - This morning I read with interest Finn McRedmond’s defence of the “Sydney Sweeney has good jeans” advertising campaign. Funny, Redmond says, because Sydney “evidently has good genes”.
Puns are the simplest form of humour, but doesn’t this beg the question, what are “bad genes”? - Yours, etc,
