Drone defence spending is morally reprehensible

Millions of civilians trying to eke out a living under horrific circumstances should never forgive us

The Irish Times - Letters to the Editor.

Sir, – Nato secretary general Mark Rutte has said the military alliance will spend $40 billion on drone defence over the next five years. In addition, Nato members have committed to train five times as many operatives before the end of 2027. All this for drones alone.

This is morally reprehensible. Our burning world, our planet’s hungry and thirsty communities and the millions of civilians trying to eke out a living under horrific circumstances should never forgive us. – Yours, etc,

CAITRIONA LAWLOR,

Co Dublin,
