Sir, – Sheila Wayman’s article on dementia, as told through the experiences and perspectives of Seán McCague’s admirable family, was moving and informative (“Don’t hide dementia: Campaign aims to raise understanding of condition”, Health & Family, July 7th).

Articulated beautifully by the McCague family, the campaign’s message is uplifting: that a constructive approach to dementia – and to social inclusion of those coping with it – help to make this condition more of a part of life’s journey. Ultimately, McCague’s joke is true: “Nobody’s getting out of here alive.” – Yours, etc,
