Lands in Lucan: To build, or not

Proposal to develop ‘will preserve’ areas of natural beauty

The Irish Times - Letters to the Editor.

Sir, – I note Julieann Byrne’s letter (June 12th) relating to the need to preserve areas of biodiversity and recreation at St Edmundsbury in Lucan. That is why the proposal for the development of much-needed housing near the site will preserve those areas of natural beauty, allowing for the construction of new homes only on land used for farming.

Indeed, under the proposals, the public will have access to lands for recreation unavailable to them.

With this clarification, I look forward to Ms Byrne’s support for the project. – Yours, etc,

Michael O’Flynn,

Chief executive and chairman, O’Flynn Group,

Ballincollig,

Cork.
