Sir, – Having endured the drunken, disruptive antics of a cohort of passengers on a Ryanair flight from Dublin to Valletta this week I am now convinced that the time has arrived for pre-flight breathalyser checks.
The individuals involved continually disobeyed instructions from the pilot, co-pilot and air cabin staff to the extent that the local police in Malta boarded the flight on landing to interview the miscreants.
The over-consumption of alcohol was at the root of this situation. Given the serious potential jeopardy to all other passengers in such circumstances, it is now time to exclude anyone over the legal limit from boarding a flight.
This would ensure that the growing scourge of drunken misbehaviour on flights is eradicated once and for all. – Yours, etc,
RM Block
