Sir, – Why do so many of us feel that this season’s Six Nations rugby championship was the best ever?
I suggest that the final table shows six reasons. From the bottom of the table, Wales may have won the wooden spoon again but they’re back; England proved in Paris that they could still be a great team; Italy “arrived”; Scotland excelled with a thrilling 50-40 win against France; Ireland nearly won the championship in the 83rd minute of the final match; and France proved they were fallible.
And the best team did win the title.
