Sir, – Another starling (startling?) murmuration in Westmeath today, the latest of many from that county (Niall Coogan photograph, February 8th). Do starlings only murmur in Westmeath? Do they know something we don’t know?

Sir, – Opening my Irish Times this morning with the usual feeling of trepidation regarding reports from our chaotic world, the wonderful photograph on page 10 of the starling murmuration over Loch Ennell, Co Westmeath was a joy to behold.
