A man (29) and a 15-year-old boy have been remanded in custody after they were charged in Cork last night in connection with the discovery of a loaded handgun.

The weapon was found by gardaí in Co Cork when they stopped a van on the Ballincollig by-pass last week.

Martin Geasley, from Radharc na Coille, Rathcoole, Co Cork, and the 15-year-old boy were both brought before a special sitting of Cork District Court last night.

Both were charged with possessing a Glock semi-automatic pistol, a magazine and seven rounds of ammunition at Barnagore, Ovens, Co Cork, on July 3rd.

Both were remanded to appear in court in Monday.
