A 58-year-old man became the latest victim at 9am today when he died in a single-vehicle crash in Ballymahon, Co Longford. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was taken to St Joseph's Hospital, Longford.

A 12-year-old boy died late last night after he was struck by a car in Limerick while he was crossing the road at Woodpark, Castleconnell, on the Dublin road. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body taken to Limerick Regional Hospital.

Elsewhere, gardaí said today that a man in his 40s had died in a crash early yesterday morning in Co Donegal. The crash in Tullyhonour, Breenagh, Letterkenny, happened at 12.30 am yesterday. The victim was a passenger in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other people in the car suffered minor injuries. There were no other vehicles involved.

A man (28) died last night after he was struck by a Bus Éireann bus near the N4 Dublin to Sligo road interchange with the M50. Arum Khanna, of Linden Apartments, Drumgeely, Co Clare, was crossing the road after getting out of a car and died at the scene. He was originally from India

Three people - two men and a woman - died following a collision between a car and a truck in Co Laois on Saturday. All three killed were occupants of the car; the accident occurred at Money Cross, Stradbally, at 10.40am.

Gardaí today named the three victims as husband and wife Nicole and Patrick Kelly, both aged 70, from Drum Road, Summerhill, Co Roscommon, and Mr Kelly's first cousin, 71-year-old Andrew Bealin, an American national from New York. The driver of the lorry was not injured in the crash.

A man (20) died when a car he was travelling in went into a ditch on Friday evening at St John's Fort, Ardee, Co Louth. Shane Keenan of Durhamstown, Bohermeen, Navan, was a front-seat passenger.

A woman (21) was also killed on the roads on Friday. Heidi O'Shea, of Silver Strand Lodge, Barna, Co Galway, died when her car struck a wall on the Ballinderreen to Kilcolgan Road, Co Galway, sometime between 2.30am and 7am on Friday.

The man in his forties was killed on the M11 at Shankill, Co Dublin, when his car went out of control and crashed into the median barrier at 9.15am on Saturday. The man was pronounced dead on arrival at Loughlinstown hospital.

So far this year 352 people have lost their lives in 320 crashes on the State's roads. The figure represents an increase of 21 fatalities compared to the same period last year.
