“The main significant change coming is that the really hot weather which we have enjoyed in recent weeks is set to come to an end. Over the coming days we will see temperatures return to more typical June weather.

“There will be rain at times and the temperature will be dropping back also. We will have temperatures today of 16-22 degrees. It will brighten up through the morning with bright or sunny spells developing for the rest of the day,” said a Met Éireann forecaster.

The forecaster noted that temperatures on Friday would be between 15 and 21 degrees. Friday morning will be mostly cloudy and damp with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. These will gradually clear eastwards through the afternoon and early evening with some sunny spells following from the west. With highest temperatures of 16-21 degrees, it will be warmest in the southeast.

Temperatures will be closer to normal during the first half of next week with it feeling notably cooler.
